Obama joins in assailing Limbaugh slur of student

NEW YORK -- Rush Limbaugh drew fire Friday from many directions, including President Barack Obama, for his depiction of a college student as a "slut'' because she testified before Congress about the need for contraceptive coverage.

The third-year Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, received a supportive phone call from Obama, and was backed by members of Congress, women's groups, and the administration and faculty at her Roman Catholic university.

Calls for Limbaugh's sponsors to pull their ads from his radio talk show rocketed through cyberspace, and at least two companies, bedding retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, said on their Twitter accounts that they were complying with the demands.

The more press the liberal news gives this story, the more people are going to hear about the hearings. When all is said and done. More will support Rush than Ms. Fluke.

What was Limbaugh caught with? A shoebox full of pills he paid $3000.00 for and was caught. I think the pot is calling the kettle black. This is the only way Limbaugh can get attention. I say cut him off. He is to old and over the hill to be in touch with the next generation of leaders.

You REALLY think people are going to support that druggie, multiple-divorce fathead? I have news for you, even the Republicans are calling him and telling him to shut up.

Everyone is overlooking the real issue here: The woman IS demanding that me, you, and other taxpayers provide her with pills so that she can have unlimited sex without consequences. Why couldn't she just buy cheap condoms?

Fluke said that Georgetown, a Jesuit institution, does not provide contraception coverage in its student health plan and that contraception can cost a woman more than $3,000 during law school.

That's $1,000.00 per year solely for contraception. How does Ms. Fluke find the time to attend classes with such a busy schedule?

Rush is correct! This young woman's entire family should be extremely embarrassed by someone who shares their last name, and shamelessly asks for the taxpayers to finance her ability to engage in recreational sex.

But fear not! There is a solution!

With all the money that Sleep Number Beds is saving by no longer advertising on Rush's show, it can buy all the contraceptives that Sandra Fluke "needs"!

And, given her $1,000.00 per year contraceptive costs, an unlimited supply of Sleep Number Beds would also be a nice gesture.

Did anyone heard Rush? I did, and all the reports are hilarious. This is all about the Democratic Party and Obama trying to side track the Republican primary by bringing a social issue to the forefront. With our flailing economy, worldwide chaos, this attack on our liberties is ridiculous. Has anyone heard Bill Mahr? Wonder why Obama hasn't address his comments? They make Rush sound like a choir boy.

Is sex a part of a normal healthy adult life, or is it a deviant behavior that we should be trying to suppress?

If you are one of the many who own stock in, or otherwise profit from, companies that advertise under the general theme of "Sex Sells", you should not be surprised that customers actually engage in such behaviors that are being flaunted in the majority of TV or print advertising.

It is said that "Everybody lies about sex", and what they say publicly is one thing, but I suspect that in the privacy of the voting booth, most people, if they are honest with themselves, would prefer not to follow Limbaugh on this one.

Only people that believe flinging insults is an acceptable form of debate.

Everyone is overlooking the real issue here: The woman IS demanding that me, you, and other taxpayers provide her with pills so that she can have unlimited sex without consequences. Why couldn't she just buy cheap condoms?

You didn't read the article. The woman was talking about her friend having OVARIAN CYSTS that could be controlled by use of oral contraceptives.

Not all of the reasons for taking the pill have to do with sex.

You and Rush need to be less outraged and more attentive.

Regardless of what you think about sex, Rush and his advertisers should be ashamed of demonizing this poor girl. This demonizing is just another trick the conservative power elite uses to keep the middle class divided while they rob your kitchen table. The people who listen to this right wing trash will unfortunately receive some perverse spiritual satisfaction from demonization and in turn, they will disregard all facts and rely on all fiction. Keeping the masses against each other is treachery. Simple minds are easy to control with trash talk, and the Rush types lead them into one dullard festival to the next. Try getting to the truth and if that gives you a headache, take a powder and get back to finding the truth. Demonizing costs us money.

Rush was correct in what is being pushed to the forefront. His vernacular in explaining it was way over the top. I do not listen to extremist either representing Liberal or Conservative stance.

Remember where this transfer originally was brought up. George Stephanopoulos(?), as ABC moderator on Republican Presidential debate, and totally out of left field, asked the question about contraception. He single handed transferred the debate from the (poor)economy to social issues.

The obvious intent was to take the heat/discussion off the Obama led economy(poor) over 3 years. Press and one candidate jumped on the transfer wagon. Obama was polling poorly with independents and women in particular. Santorum was not doing real well in the economic debate, so he jumped at the chance to speak for the Catholic church on social matters. Former Clinton advisor stated openly that ABC man, George, was given the question by Obama group.

    Conspiracy theory? Obviously, but actual.

Well . . . Then someone who is obese should receive a taxpayer-funded gym membership, right?

This entitlement mentality is just another Obama-orchestrated scheme to facilitate our nation's financial implosion.

    Where will it all end?

If Obama gets his way, our present-day nation will be replaced by something horrific that Obama and his comrades have designed; personal freedoms and responsibilities will be eliminated.

Rush Limbaugh is pathetic for calling a law school student a slut but he can travel around with a suitcase of medication in some else name. I would say that makes him a crackhead, pillbillie fool. People are put on birth control pills for other reasons than pregnancy prevention. Birth control pills are used to treat endometriosis, severe PMS, to regulate the duration of a woman’s’ period and balance hormones. If a health insurance can cover Cialis & Viagra, then it can cover birth control pills.

It will be interesting to see how this "GET RUSHBO" plays out. Of course the liberal enemies would like to silence "Rushbo" forever and the conservative fans of "Rushbo" will support him through thick and thin. But the war has been declared between both parties and this "WILL" be a war to determine who will have the "verbal" power to add or take away "Rushbo's" fame and fortune. Its amazing to me that a physical effort has not taken place already with this "Rushbo" issue.

You aren't thinking clearly. Maintenance medicines are covered under most plans.

You can get blood pressure medicine to cut your risk of heart disease but you can't get a drug to prevent getting cysts on your reproductive organs because it happens to also work as a contraceptive?

Stupid. Stupid and sexist. Your incorrect analogy and empty rhetoric not withstanding.

I love it. I posted a link to locations in Washington DC that already provides free contractptives for both men and women and the Gazette would print my post. Why is it that you guys at liberal media sites are afraid of the truth? This is an issue because Obama wants it to be an issue and Republicans, instead of simply pionting out the truth, are too stupid to dismiss this non-issue and keep the focus on Obama's record, play right in the lefts hand. When the worst President in American history wins his second term, the nit wits on the right have no one but themselves to blame.

    Sheesh.

The fact that Ms Fluke's friend had ovarian cysts is anecdotal. If she were prescribed hormones for this medical condition instead of for contraception, probably her medical insurance would have paid. She and her Doctor should have challenged the decision. The fact is, this issue is whether or not we all pay for everyone's contraception, either in taxes or increased health care premiums. I for one, do not want to.

I find it interesting that folks are so adamant in their stance that they should not have to provide/pay for Birth Control as it goes against their religious beliefs. I do not see such objection to the use of tax dollars to pay for Military Weapons. Could a Buddhist demand that none of their tax dollars go towards anything that offended their sensibility?

Since when did contraceptives become "maintenance medicines"? And I'm the one who's not thinking clearly?

These co-eds simply feel entitled to a portion of someone else's property in order to finance their behavioral choices. This is as ridiculous as homosexuals demanding that they be granted civil rights protections. Or terrorists demanding that they have a right to due process in civilian courts.

The whole thing makes one want to chuckle!

As for basing my opinions upon religious faith, I am proudly SECULAR. So much for that argument.

but you can't get a drug to prevent getting cysts on your reproductive organs

Sure you can, if you have a doctor smart enough to write the prescription for that. But to expect the government to force a religious organization to violate their constitutionally guranteed rights because a contraceptive has a secondary use is the only stupid thing I see.
