Defensive line coach Fred Tate is leaving Marshall to work under coach Tommy Tuberville at Texas Tech, according to redraidersports.com.

Officials at Texas Tech refused to confirm that Tate was hired, or even interviewed. The Red Raiders began spring practice Friday, so the move would take place quickly.

Marshall coach Doc Holliday did not return a request for confirmation Friday. Tate spent two seasons at MU under Holliday, coaching safeties in 2010 and the defensive line in 2011.
